Ribat does not collect any personal data. It has no accounts, no ads, and no analytics or tracking SDKs. Everything you save in the app stays on your device, except for the optional “Group khatmah” and “Suggestions” features described below.
Your location is used on the device to calculate prayer times and the qibla direction. It is stored only on the device and is never sent to us or to any third party. Location is requested only while the app is open; there is no background tracking. You can pick your city manually instead.
The app works offline except for Quran recitation audio, streamed from everyayah.com and mirrors.quranicaudio.com, optional extra tafsir books and adhan sounds from cdn.jsdelivr.net, word meanings, word audio and recitation timings from api.quran.com and audio.qurancdn.com, and tajweed mushaf fonts from static-cdn.tarteel.ai. No information about you is sent with these requests; those servers see standard connection data such as your IP address, under their own policies.
If you use the Tajweed Lab, the app asks for microphone permission and records your recitation of the ayah only while you hold the record button. The recording is sent over an encrypted connection to Ribat’s server (api-ribat.mo-eid.com), where the Quran Muaalem model analyses it, and it is then deleted immediately: neither the audio nor the result is stored, and no name or identifier for you or your device is sent with it. The microphone is not used for anything else.
The app uses Android’s built-in backup: if it is on for your phone, your settings and worship log are saved, encrypted, to your Google Drive account so they come back when you install the app on a new phone. We cannot access this backup, and you can turn it off in your phone settings.
If you create or join a group khatmah, the minimum needed to share progress with its participants is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore): the display name you type yourself, the parts you claimed and completed, and the khatmah’s title and deadline. An anonymous ID is created automatically, with no email or phone number. Only people who know the khatmah code can see this data. To delete it, leave the khatmah, delete it if you created it, or contact us. If you don’t use this feature, nothing is sent.
If you send a suggestion from the “Suggestions & ideas” page, Google Firebase (Firestore) stores your message, its type, any name and contact you choose to enter, and the app version and device model if you keep that option on. Only the developer can read it; it is used solely to reply and improve the app, and you can ask us to delete it.
If you install Ribat on your watch, prayer times are sent from your phone directly to your watch through Google’s wearable data service; they never pass through us.
All data (location, khatmah and adhkar progress, settings) lives on your device. Clear the app’s storage in your phone settings, or uninstall the app, to delete it.
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no data from any user, other than what they type themselves in the optional group khatmah.
